RSS Feeds-AM Session 3

I found this morning to be very interesting,. I've used RSS feeds on my school website so followers can keep up with changes that I make to it. But even though I have had gmail for at least 2 years, there were a number of features like Google Reader that I hadn't used before...just like I hadn't used the Blogger before.

I can see how I would use it personally to keep up with current events. I will need to think on how the students can use this. Can they get RSS thru their Gaggle? I don't think so since outside email is blocked. I'd like some thoughts in comments on how we can use this for the students.

A link that I "refound" and have now saved in Delicious is this one: Concise Learning

  1. Students can not get to a reader through Gaggle. However, they could use a reader from home...and many of them probably do.

Isn't it interesting how we "refind" things? There is so much wonderful information out there. That is why I try to save it in my Delicious account.

  2. Refind things is something I seem to do all the time. Thanks for your help this morning.

  3. When you use the RSS feeds at school, do you have to explain to people how to use it or is it just for those people who already know about the feeds?

  4. @Whitepanther...depends on how savvy the person is...sometimes I have to explain it and sometimes as soon as I say "feed" or "RSS" they know right away what I'm talking about.

  5. At the risk of being repetitive, you should try edmodo. You can create a group for students to work in and subscribe to RSS feeds that will authomatically post within the group. So if there is a news website that you want students to keep up with, they will receive updates as they happen and can even post responses to those updates directly to the post that it appears in.
